Uniting Superior with a Town Flag that Captures Our Roots and Spirit

Objective:
Create and establish a Town Flag that Embodies Our Rich History, Culture, and Community Spirit

Purpose:
A distinctive town flag for Superior has the potential to fostering a collective sense of local belonging. This community flag will serve as a proud emblem, uniting our residents under a shared banner of pride and togetherness.

The new flag design

The flag's design is a balanced composition showcasing a prominent geometric shape representing a stylized copper mineral. This dynamic spiral shape signifies the town's continuous evolution. Moreover, the distinct configuration of seven parts within this shape embodies the spirit of unity among the town's residents.

Color Symbolism:

GOLD:

The vibrant gold color on the flag infuses it with warmth and exuberance, symbolizing the arid desert landscape and the town's natural environment.

CHARCOAL:
Charcoal, another key color within the flag's palette, represents the Apache Tears. Its deep and contrasting tone enhances the flag's visual impact while harmoniously complementing the other chosen colors.

ORANGE:

The inclusion of orange pays homage to the town's rich history of copper mining, serving as a visual testament to its prosperity and affluence. This hue also reflects the town's pivotal role as a center for mining and industrial activities.

Size

The flag would use 2:3 proportions, the same proportions used by the Arizona State flag.

Flags are #Trending

Numerous towns across the United States are currently in the process of redesigning their historical flags or creating flags for the first time. These communities are carefully reevaluating their past symbols and emblems, striving to modernize them to align with the current values of their residents. One prominent example is the state of Utah, which adopted a new flag in March 2023, discarding their outdated flag in favor of one that more accurately reflects the state's identity. Other locations that have revamped their flags include South Bend, IN, Tulsa, OK, and Miami, FL.

Does Superior currently have a town flag?

Superior has a town seal. Currently, in official representation, the town places the seal on a colored background for its flag. We believe it's unfair to burden the seal with dual roles. No one enjoys having to multitask, so let the seal fulfill its original purpose – being a seal. Just like the USA and Arizona have separate designs for their flags and seals, we believe Superior deserves a unique flag design that both stands out and complements the existing town seal.
